I haven’t updated my blog with a serious entry in quite some time. It’s been hard to find the time! I started a full-time job a few months ago, and it has (surprisingly) taken a lot out of me. I suppose it doesn’t really help that I have a long commute and class a few nights a week. For anyone who is interested, I work in a chemistry lab for P&G. (Sidenote: My first thought upon entering the analytical chem lab: WHAT?! People actually titrate stuff and do IR spectrometry in real life?!)

The year is winding down, and I’ve been looking back at the past year and wondering how I got to where I am right here and right now.

Simply put, I think I grew up a little, and more importantly, I grew in Christ and for Christ.

God has been more than good to me this year. He has struck fear and awe into me in a way that I never imagined was possible. It’s sad to think that I have had such a small (or nonexistent) view of God for the past 20+ years of my life. God has always-since before there was time- been working and showing me grace, and I finally, finally, FINALLY have begun to understand just a tiny bit of what this Love is all about.

I met new friends and got rid of unnecessary ones. (Does this sound mean? It’s a natural part of growing up!) I got my own health insurance, make my own loan/bill/tuition payments, got over some crazy, obsessive idols…I’d say I’m getting classier and classier with each passing day!

I was accepted into medical school last month. I can hardly believe it. It’s so crazy to think that I will be someone’s doctor in 8 or so years. I will have substantial influence over the health and well-being of (my) patients. It is one of the most frightening things that I have ever considered. Not because I’ll be a terrible doctor because I think I will be a great physician! :) But the responsibility, the studying, the insanity…It’s enough to make anyone nervous.

I wanted to make a list of things that I want to accomplish. Not a bucket list per se, but a more temporary list—one that I would like to complete before next summer (unless it’s a lifelong goal). So here goes!

1. Manage and maintain a budget! (save for Europe!)
2. Backpack through Europe next spring/summer.
3. Get fit and healthy!!!!! Stop loafing. (Subgoal: Run more than 1 mile without stopping to adjust orthotics or search for inhaler)
4. Get cancer screening done again.
5. Fix the psoriasis/eczema on elbows and back (I know I’m disgusting)
6. Read a ton of books. Join a book club?
7. Meet up with, talk to, write to friends/family as often as possible.
8. Read the Bible consistently with focus and joy.
9. Cook meals for family and friends.
10. Pray.

Even though I have many things I have to/want to do, I hope to update more often! :)
